Spent some time at the lumber yard picking the wood for this project. Because I’m building two of these cabinets, there’s a lot of material to purchase, prep, and mill. Since these pieces will be painted, the primary wood is poplar. It mills nicely and is great with milk paint.
The next steps are to cut material to size and make sure everything fits together properly.
Then the first glue-up. The main components of one of the base carbinets are assembled and glued together. A piece likes this proves the adage that “you can never have too many clamps.” Once clamped, there’s nothing more to do until the glue sets.
First glue-up of the first base cabinet is done. Still much to do, but preliminary work on the second base cabinet will be next.
