The handmade wooden furniture shown here represents great examples of our devotion to client needs and satisfaction.   Each piece was designed and built as custom woodworking with input from the client.   You can see in many of these creations the influence of Arts and Crafts furniture with it’s strong lines and classic style.  There are also items that range from ornate classics to art work for a wall to fun projects for a specific purpose.  We hope these pieces give you some ideas for your own home.

Farm Style Buffet

The barn door hardware on the front gives this piece a unique and contemporary look.  Working with the client to address size and space needs, this piece features adjustable shelves in each side cubby and a fixed shelf in the middle.  The top is hand-crafted solid maple butcher block finished with a clear coat that will protect it for years to come.

Jewelry Armoire

A safe and convenient way to store and display jewelry is important to many people.  A custom made Jewelry Armoire has become a popular item in our Handmade Furniture portfolio.  Here are three Armoires, each designed specifically for clients with their own unique requirements.

Light and Lively Jewelry Armoire

The Light and Lively Armoire features the traditional Arts & Crafts 7 drawer front.  It also has push to open doors on each side with hooks for necklaces.  Each drawer is full-extension with hand crafted wooden dividers and padded bottoms.  The color was chosen by the client to add brightness and life to the room in which it now lives.

Traditional Jewelry Armoire

The design and look of the Traditional Armoire is informed by the overall “feel” of the furniture already in the room but with it’s own unique, custom blend finish and distressing techniques for a one-of-a-kind creation.

 

The Armoire features the traditional Arts & Crafts 7 drawer look, with the bottom two drawers a bit deeper than the others to hold larger pieces.

 

Both sides open with push-to-open latches.  Two rows of hooks mounted inside allow necklaces to hang freely.  The mirror inside the top adds to the convenience of the piece.  And the top can be opened safely to any angle for ease of use.  The finish begins with several coats of traditional milk paint in various colors.  The final milk paint layer is a custom mixed charcoal gray, lightly distressed to give the piece a lived-in look by revealing some of the colors beneath.  Check out the “In the Workshop” page to see the evolution and construction of this unique creation.

Funky Jewelry Armoire

This creation is a delight.  The client had specific needs for jewelry storage and wanted a design that is fun and lively.   Each of the seven drawers include handmade wooden dividers to keep the jewelry safe.  The sides open for access to storage areas for long necklaces.  The finish and color are custom blends of milk paint distressed into a well used look.  This is another example of custom woodworking that meets the client’s needs.

Ornate Cabinet.

Unique design to fit into a specific space.  Cabinet measures 36″ wide x 35″ tall.  The sides are an asymetrical shape in order to fit into a corner of the room.  All the wood is hand selected cherry with a finish that complements several other antique pieces in the room.  The lion head pulls are antiques from a demolished Chicago mansion and thought to be more than a century old.   Since the cabinet is placed beneath a large screen TV hanging on the wall, the inside is designed to permit the installation of a DVD player on the top shelf, with ample storage on two shelves below.  This piece is the result of close consultation with the client who had specific needs and taste.

        

Reclaimed Wood Wallpiece.

This is about 30″ square.  Made entirely of reclaimed wood salvaged from the client’s back yard.  This the kind of custom woodworking that can make a simple space into something unique and special.  The art work can be designed and sized to just about any dimension.

Classic Corner Cabinet.

Ample storage in upper and lower cabinets.  Fits snugly into the corner of the room.  The unique design and finish are the result of consultation with the client to develop a one-of-a-kind solution.  This custom furniture is built in the classic New England style of corner cabinet and is finished with a milk paint color blend to complement other furnishings in this room.  The two cabinets flank a large picture window at the end of a room.

Made of oak.  Game board is solid maple and walnut.

Cigar Humidor

This is a special item that incorporates a mixture of woods (cherry wood case, spanish cedar lining and cigar drawers, walnut base) and holds large collection of cigars in perfect atmosphere.  This custom furniture piece also includes an automatic humidifier to maintain proper moisture content for the cigars as well as LED’s mounted inside to make it easier to see the cigars.

 

Desktop Cigar Humidor

Nearly limitless choices for wood, all with spanish cedar lining, humidifier, and hygrometer.   The humidor shown here is made of cherry, walnut, and maple.  The interior is kiln-dried spanish cedar.

Corner Cabinet

This item is designed to complement existing furniture and sized to fit into a specific corner.  It is made of select cherry hardwoods.

Walnut Canvass Frames

Finding the right frame to show off an important work of art or poster can be difficult.   Here are some frames we made that provide an attractive and solid base for the canvass without calling attention to themselves.  These particular frames are for large canvasses, but can be made to handle any size.  The wood to be used can likewise be customized to complement the color palette of the canvass.

Full-extension, self-closing drawers provide abundant storage. Cabinet features a maple butcher block top with a drop-down wing for more counter space when you need it.
